Day 8. Travelling through Belize to Guatemala

A fárasztó, egész napos fürdőzés után összeszedtük a cókmókunkat és megvettük a buszjegyünket. A járatunk csak 0:45-kor indult, szóval este 6-tól volt pár felesleges óránk, amit elüthettünk. Egy kis olasz étterembe mentünk (már megint hiányzott a hazai íz), ahol egy könnyed, kellemes vacsorát töltöttünk el, megírtam a napi blogbejegyezést. A maradék időben az állomáson hesszeltük, ahol jól elszórakoztattuk egymást, miközben figyeltük a jövő-menő helyi lakosokat, a taxis hiénákat és az átutazókat. Esküszöm, hogy kisebb szappanoperát rittyenthetnénk az itt zajló eseményekből. Időközben egy kis karneválba is belefutottunk!

A buszunk időben be is gördült az állomásra, csomagok a helyükre, kispárna és hálózsák a fedélzetre (itt valamiért mániájuk a légkondi) és irány a határ. Persze, hogy a legmélyebb álmunkból vert fel a sofőr. Valamikor fél 5 magasságában értük el a Mexikó-Belize határt. Mivel több, mint 7 napig tartózkodtunk az országban, ezért 25 USD-t kellet fizetnünk (derült égből villámcsapás). Bezzeg ezt a belépéskor nem mondták! Miután ez megvolt, beléptünk Belizbe, ahol valamiért a fehérek csomagját nem vizsgálták át...hmm. Megint buszba be, útra fel, míg el nem értük Belize Cityt, amit a tervezett  6 óra helyett 7 óra alatt sikerült abszolválnunk. Kis pihenőt tartottunk a feketéktől zsúfolt váróban és kb. fél óra múlva jött is a falujáró, ami a határig vitt minket. 

Ahogy tapasztaltuk, Belizeben ritka a fehér ember, a chicken buszon is csak mi, turisták voltunk azok. Az utazást - ami 4 órás volt - úgy kell elképzelni, mintha nemcsak a térben, hanem az időben is utaztunk volna. A ráióban szólt a karibi zene, a busz tele feketékkel és robogtunk a lepusztult tájon keresztül. Pont olyan, mintha a 60-as évek amerikájában utaztunk volna. Megpróbaltam érzékeltetni az alábbi videóval.

 

A határhoz csak hiénataxival tudtunk eljutni, de legalább alkudtunk az árból.   A belépésnél újabb csekély díjat fizettünk, hogy beléphessünk Guatemalába. Így el is értük, hogy egy nap alatt 3 országban voltunk. Pipa :-)

A határtól mikrobusszal jutottunk el Floresbe, közel két óra alatt, ahol most is vagyunk. Megvettük a túrákra a jegyeinket, a belizei visszaútra szintén jegyet váltottunk szombatra, így mindent gyorsan letudtunk . Egy kis séta és délután 5-ös vacsora után, visszatértünk a szállásra, mivel reggel 4:30-kor jön értünk a kalandjárat, hogy elvigyen Tikalba. Ez egy súlyos reggeli kelést jelent. A következő napokat ezen környékén töltjük, majd északnak indulunk. Amint tudok, újra jelentkezem. Higgyétek el, mozgalmas programjaink lesznek, amitől Ti se maradtok le...

Dear Friends,

After all day long at the beach we were very exhausted. We picked up our lagguages, hit the bus station and bought our tickets to Belize city. The departure of the bus was 0:45 so we had lot of time to kill so we decided to go to a nice italian restaurant to have a fine dinner (we miss the hungarian food). When we finished our meal, went to bus station. During the waiting time we had a great time watching the passangers who were passing by. Created millions of hidden stories about them or tried to figure out where are they going or what is their purpose there...fun, fun, fun.

The bus was on time. Packages to the storage, sleeping bags to the board and we were good to go. Of course we have arrived to the border during my deepest sleep. Pffff. That's my luck..fck! We had to pay 25 USD fee because we were in Mexico more than 7 days. It was unexpected for all of us, because when we arrived to the country it was not told to us. So if you go to Mexico, remember that. Except if you fly with Delta, because their ticket price includes this fee. 

 When we entered to Belize, the lagguages of "white" vistors were not checked. Hmmm..

The whole trip to Belize city took about 7 hrs instead of the expected 6. No worries we were on time to catch our connecting bus to Guatemala. It was a bit surreal for us. Only two of us and 3 more turists from U.K were "white" on the bus. I did not know that the population of Belize is completely afro american. To be honest, it was a travel through time and space...it felt like we were in the 60th of USA. The bus was exactly the same, the people also, the music was carribian or tyical american country with benjo...wow. It was one of my weirdest and most insane ride! If you watch the video above, maybe you will feel it too. We were passing by this beautiful but destroyed country with this funny and happy but poor people after couple hours of sleep...mixed feelings my friends.

Finally after 4 hours of bus ride we've reached the border of Belize also. We paid the government fee (10 USD) then the entrance fee to Guatemala (3 USD). Took a microbus with a driver and with couple of tourists and we went straight to Florence. It took for more 2 hrs. So we arrived to Florence, Guatemala after 13 hrs of travelling from Tulum, Mexico. Long, right? Yeah. We are dead!

We bought our ticket to the tours and a ticket to Belize for Saturday, because we will leave that time. This is our southest goal so now on we go again to the north. The tourbus which will take us to the ruins of Tikal comes 4:30 in the morning so we have to wake up early in the morning. That was the reason of our early dinner in the city. Some fine local food and back to the accommodation. During our walk I shot some pictures also so you will not miss this beautiful spot of our Earth. So, 3 countries in 1 day by bus, lack of good sleep but lot of adventures. That's why I love this trip.

Our upcoming days will be exciting also, belive me! A big part of it is already planned. New destinations, cities and a way back to Belize and Mexico. Stay tuned and don't forget to like on FB and/or leave a comment. Miss you my friends!
